The P.E.O. Event with Rhys Bowen and Jenn McKinlay was a lot of fun. We always have the most entertaining authors and quality art at these things. Then last night I schlepped up to the Poisoned Pen Bookstore in Scottsdale to see the Rhys and Jenn show again, since they both have brought out new books that I figured will be perfect stocking stuffers for Christmas.
My next event will be November 19 at the Robson Library in Sun Lakes, AZ. Check out the “Events” page for the time and other particulars. I’m expecting this to be a great talk and signing. I’ve heard wonderful things about Robson.
The other big news is that a few minutes ago I turned in the final (I hope) draft of Hell With the Lid Blown Off, my seventh Alafair Tucker Mystery. In this book, I took Alafair back to Oklahoma after her trip to Arizona in The Wrong Hill to Die On. Oh, my, there is a lot going on with the family in this book. People are leaving home and having babies and who knows what? And then there’s the tornado and the body of someone who may or may not have died in said tornado. Not to mention that a war is beginning to look inevitable. In fact, I think the lid is about to blow off, for sure. As soon as I get the final pass from my editor, I’ll tell you more. As usual, when I started this book, I didn’t know if I could pull it off. But pulled off it was, though in an odd way, I don’t quite know how it happened that it turned out so well. Anyone who has ever written a piece of fiction knows just what I’m talking about.
